Special Education

At PSOE, we work with the special education students K-8, using or modifying the general education curriculum to meet the child’s individual needs and providing required remedial instruction.

We use various techniques to promote learning in special education. Depending on the student, teaching methods can include intensive individualized instruction, problem-solving assignments, and small-group work. For example, when students need special accommodations to learn the general curriculum or to take a test, special education teachers ensure that appropriate accommodations are provided, such as having material read orally or lengthening the time allowed to take the test.

The special education teachers at PSOE feel that preparing special education students for daily life after graduation is one of the most important aspects of their job.

It is important that all parents of students in need of services through Special Education, Speech, Language, and Occupational Therapy understand their legal rights and responsibilities. To read more about your parent rights, please click here for the latest version of “Procedural Safeguards”.
