Paper making at school

Kindergarten classes are painting landscapes with watercolor paints. They are learning how to use a new medium and exploring how the paint works. They are painting a sunrise on a beach in preparation for spring break.

The 1st Grade classes are painting landscapes with watercolor paints. They are learning how to use a new medium and exploring how the paint works. They are painting a sunrise on a beach in preparation for spring break.

The 2nd graders this week are learning about Piet Mondrian. They have drawn their own versions of trees and are beginning to abstract the tree each time they re-make it. They are applying the elements of art to a grid drawing then onto a 3D painted project: their Mondrian tree.

3rd Grade are working on a cross curricular assignment with math.  They are designing a Robot by constructing graph paper.  They will get area and perimeter problems that they have to solve.  The solutions become the parts of the robot and they assemble.

4th Grade are painting with watercolors a still life project with fruits. Their first version looks fantastic and their second version will incorporate watercolor colored pencils.

5th Grade are starting a painting project using 3D objects to apply designs to.  They are studying the Aztecs to see how people have used patterns for centuries.  They also can design animals and symbols as myths.  Each have painted two coats and will continue to place designs on them.

MS and HAT classes are working on their final 8th grade projects and creating journals from old DVD cases.  They are studying Surrealism and Cubism for content for their work. Students are finalizing their covers and will then get the inside of the journal complete.
