Paper making at school

Kindergarten and first grade classes are sculpting with clay.

The 2nd graders this week are learning about Piet Mondrian. They have drawn their own versions of trees and are beginning to abstract the tree each time they re-make it. They are applying the elements of art to a grid drawing then onto a 3D painted project: their Mondrian tree.

3rd Grade are learning about Eric Carle, author of “the Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “Baby bear baby bear what do you see”.  They will make a painting of an animal inspired by his style of painting with non-traditional objects.

4th Grade are learning about M.C. Escher.  They are going to design their own tessellations and then adapt one of Escher’s animal patterns.

5th Grade are working on a cross-curricular math assignment examining coordinate planes.  They are going to be designing scale models of building blocks and will examine how graphing is a practical application.  This will align with their 8th grade project, “Imagine, Believe, Charge” a sculpture that our students will design.

6th Grade are starting a new Illustration project. They are designing a story to tell through a comic strip, a comic book style, or children’s book.

7th grade are learning about M.C. Escher. They are going to design their own tessellations and then adapt one of Escher’s animal patterns.

8th grade are learning about M.C. Escher. They are going to design their own tessellations and then adapt one of Escher’s animal patterns.
