3rd & 4th Grade Football Game Recap: Thundering Herd vs. Falcons (North Central Championship- October 24th, 2017)

The Paramount 3rd & 4th grade football team captured the North Central Championship in an all-time classic match up against the Falcons on Tuesday night, with a 13-12 victory. The Thundering Herd came out of the gate strong, recording a Ryan Rockingham touchdown run on the first play of the game. The lead would quickly evaporate as the Falcons answered back with two touchdowns before halftime to take the lead 12-7. As the snow turned to sleet in the second half, the Paramount defense elevated their performance as they did not allow a first down in the second half and recovered a fumble. The Thundering Herd offense fought their way down the field to set up a fourth down play from the three yard line with three minutes remaining in the game. Head Coach Dexter Taylor reached deep into his bag of tricks to find a misdirection run by Ryan Rockingham to take the lead 13-12. The Thundering Herd defense shut down the Falcons on their final possession to secure the championship.

Coach Taylor’s Thoughts: “We came out swinging, scoring on the very first play to open the game, but then the Falcons swung back by scoring two straight touchdowns. To watch our team, down one touchdown in a hostile environment, win the game by scoring on fourth & goal on a cold and rainy night is an experience we’ll all remember for the rest of our lives. Couldn’t be prouder of all our guys!”
