1st/2nd Grade Game Recap

1st & 2nd Grade Football Game Recap: Thundering Herd vs. Bengals (October 7, 2017)

The Paramount 1st & 2nd grade football team ended their season with a hard fought loss to the Bengals, 21-0 on Saturday at North Central. The final score was not indicative of Paramount’s level of play as it remained a one score contest throughout the majority of the second half. The Thundering Herd’s defense gave an impressive performance, eliminating the big plays that the Bengals typically rely upon. Paramount was able to consistently pressure the opposition’s backfield and forced three fumbles on the day. The Thundering Herd’s offense was unable to move the ball until late in the game when second grader Demetric Miller rumbled for a 35 yard gain. After a season full of growth, Paramount moves in the off-season with big goals in mind.

Coach Thibodeau’s Thoughts: “The first and second grade team battled hard and left in all out on the field Saturday in their season finale. The defense looked sharp, and a few big runs kept the offense in the game. Although they came up short, the team really showed how much they have improved this season.”

Paramount’s offense was able to consistently move the ball throughout the contest as Brylin Branson and Thomas Robinson III each recorded long touchdown runs. The Thundering Herd’s defense recorded its third shutout of the season behind the strong play of Johnny Ward and Rudi Fernandez. Paramount will close its regular season next week with a game against the Bengals.

Coach Thibodeau’s Thoughts: “In another dominant performance from the defense, the first and second grade team cruised to victory and a third shutout this season. The rushing attack looked great, blocking was strong, and our defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage all game long. I am pleased with the crowd turnout as well, it definitely felt like a home game.”
